San Juan Islands Now A National Monument!

Just a quick note in case you hadn’t heard: Our wonderful home was designated a National Monument on March 25! The islands are proclaimed “a refuge of scientific and historic treasures and a classroom for generations of Americans.” The Bureau of Land Management has the story here, which includes a link to the President’s proclamation.

The San Juans are one of five new national monuments. The others are Rio Grande del Norte National Monument in New Mexico; First State National Monument in Delaware; Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Monument in Maryland; and the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument in Ohio.
