The Sweet Taste of Autumn

This year’s Cider Pressing Party (last week at the demo garden) was loads of fun in beautiful weather. San Juan Island Distillery opened their orchards to us in the days leading up the event, and donated all the apples we picked — a great partnership that has lasted through the years. Other folks brought their own apples, we had a big stash of jugs, and of course the presses. Friends and family came to try their hands at making their own cider on our two traditional apple presses, built by master gardener Bob Levinson. Who knew pressing cider could be such a workout? But what a sweet result!
